York City Baths Club Winter Extravaganza

JOHN CHARLES CENTRE FOR SPORT (25M)

The York City Baths Club Winter Extravaganza Meet held at the John Charles Centre for Sport Leeds saw City’s swimmers win a host of medals along with two new club records.

Outstanding performances and gold medals

Freddy Dean (4), Harry Schmidt (3), Rebecca Dunn (2), Evelyn Gledhill (2), Robbie Ambler (1), Sophia Gledhill (1) Alex Dunn (1) and Ciara O’Carroll (1).

Silver medals went to Sophia Gledhill (5), Quinn Austin Kelly (3), Evelyn Gledhill (2), Robbie Ambler (2), sisters Ciara (3) and Orlaith O’Carroll (1), sisters Alex (2) and Rebecca Dunn (1), Gina Warrior (1), Harry Schmidt (1) and Laura Temple (1).

In third place on the podium were Orlaith O’Carroll (3), Laura Temple (2), Sophia Gledhill (2), Quinn Austin Kelly (2), Jasmine Shay (1), Gina Warrior (1), and Gabriel Medd (1).

In total City had a medal haul of 15 gold, 23 silver and 12 bronze medals and  speeding tickets went to Ciara O’Carroll (2) and Robbie Ambler (1).

As an added bonus Alex Dunn broke the Open and 13/14 years club records in the short course 50m breaststroke in a time of 33.58 and sister Rebecca beat her own club record in the 15/16 years 50m breaststroke in a time of 34.59. Alex’s time puts in second place on the English rankings in the short course 50m breaststroke.

All of the above swimmers train with Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
