PONDS FORGE SHEFFIELD 25M

Squads of City’s senior and age group swimmers who all train with Bradford Aquatics Competition Programme travelled to Ponds Forge Sheffield to compete in the North East Region Junior/ Open and Age Group Championships.

Top ten places were hard to come by for City’s swimmers at the Age Group event and it was twelve year old Ciara O’Carroll who claimed fourth place in the 100m individual medley and tenth place in the 50m butterfly. She also finished in the top twenty in the 50m breaststroke.

Thirteen year old Freddy Dean finished in eighth place in the 100m individual medley and had top twenty finishes in the 50m and 100m backstroke.

Robbie Ambler had three top twenty finishes and Harry Schmidt two. Other meet qualifiers were, Laura Temple, Jasmine Shay, Evelyn Gledhill, Will Skiggs and Quinn Austin Kelly.

At the Junior Group Championships three club records were broken by Gina Warrior and it was the fifteen year old who stole the limelight. Her time of 30.21 in the 50m backstroke was an improved Winter National Qualifgting time which placed her in silver medal position.

She then gained to new winter national qualifying times in the 100m and 200m backstroke in times of 1.05.65 and 2.21.33 respectively. She went on to round off a very successful weekend with a top twenty finish in the 50m freestyle.

Sisters Alex and Rebecca Dunn were also in fine form in their respective age groups. Swimming in the junior events fourteen year old Alex claimed fourth place in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 35.26.

She was followed by older sister Rebecca swimming in the open events. She qualified for the Winter Nationals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke with times of 1.14.64 and 2.40.44 respectively and claimed her third tenth place finish in the shorter 50m event.
